| December Student Athlete Chris Kearney Sr. |
Kearney currently carries a 3.7pga while playing competitive basketball throughout the year , both with Westfield High School in the Fall/Winter months and with the Fairfax Stars AAU traveling team the during Spring and Summer. The versatile young man is also a member of the National Honor Society.
With a 3.8gpa , Chris also scored an impressive 1200 on the Math and Verbal sections of the SAT exam. Those are stats to be proud of , as several of the most prestigious institutions in the country have noticed as well. MIT , Johns Hopkins , Wash U , and Amherst have all expressed interest as well as some Ivy League and Patriot League schools , all seeking the services of this young man with a size 16 shoe.
" He is just a great kid with amazing upside and potential on the court. He is very agile for a kid his size, and just has a fantastic attitude " noted Peter Boettke who coached Chris this past summer.
Kearney played more of a support role last season behind teammate Mo Hubbard of Westfield HS , but still managed to earn All District honors as a junior. During the summer Kearney improved tremendously scoring a big 22 points at the Nike Main Event against Mater Dei High School in California. This season Kearney is the go-to guy for Westfield and he hasn't disappointed , averaging 22.5ppg through four games thus far to go along with a double digit rebounding effort in each contest.
The senior student-athlete of the month from Virginia , has a passion for hoops and Chris Kearney certainly has a bright future.
