Javorn Farrell & Jordan Baber Post-Game Interview
When senior guard Bryan Wilson sank two free throws with 20 seconds
remaining in the game , he gave Riverdale Baptist a 55-51 lead , however it
was junior guard Jordan Barber's pair from the stripe seconds later that
gave Riverdale now (8-2) the victory over VA Defending State Champion T.C.
Williams (4-1).
"No pressure , the ball came to me , I got fouled and I knocked them down" ,
expressed a confident Baber (4pts) for Riverdale Baptist , who spoke
post-game about the game winning free throws.
The game was a treat , as two powerhouse teams from the DC metro area
squared off , producing a roller-coaster like ride of a game. The two high
school teams came into the contest in the www.capitolhoops.com Top 25 , and
exhausted eleven ties throughout the contest.
Bryan Wilson (11pts) connected with Javorn Farrell (19pts) who finished with
a big time slam giving the Crusaders an early lead 17-6. The Titans strong
armed their way back into the game as junior forward Ryan Yates(11pts)
scored five straight tieing the game at 25 at the half.
An early 3rd Quarter three point field goal from senior Edward Jenkins (TC
Williams) gave the Titans their first lead of the night 32-30 with 6 minutes
remaining in the quarter.
Sophomore guard Darrick Wood (10pts) helped TC Williams maintain their slim
lead by knocking down two long range jump shots , and teammate Billy Rowland
(Sr. 16pts) chipped in hitting four big free throws to knot things up at 53
with under two minutes to play.
The T.C. Williams Titans found themselves in possession of the ball with 10
seconds , after a Bryan Wilson turnover that gave the Titans a chance to win
the game down 57-56. But when senior Gavin Peterson came up short on a pull
up jumper , Riverdale's Jordan Baber secured the rebound and the win.
